Some ten kilometres from Niš, beneath the forested slopes of Koritnik, at an elevation of 248 metres, lies Niška Banja — one of the oldest spas in Europe. The healing properties of its waters were well known during Roman settlement, more than 2,000 years ago. The spa is situated along the ancient Constantinople Road, the historic artery linking East and West.
The radioactive thermal water, maintained at a constant temperature of 36–38°C, has proven beneficial for rheumatic and neurological conditions. Niška Banja is an ideal stop on the Belgrade–Niš–Istanbul route — just 10 km from the centre of Niš and directly alongside Corridor 10.
