DAYS OF MOKRANJAC
( 12th – 18th September )
Every September, starting in 1966, there is a music festival in Negotin in memory of the greatest Serbian composer Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac.
The only festival in Serbia relying deeply on our great composer, it has long overcome the frontiers of Negotinska Krajina by its choice of programme and performers and its overall content and mission.
The crown of the Days of Mokranjac is the choir competition.
ST. TRIFUN ( 14th February )
In the Negotin municipality One of the most important agricultural activities is the cultivation of grapevine and the production of wine.
Every year, on the 14th of February at Rajac wine cellars St. Trifun is celebrated, the protector of wine – makers and vineyard – tillers.
THE INTERNATIONAL HONEY AND WINE FAIR ( May )
A manifestation which gathers honey and wine makers from Serbia and neighbouring countries.
The fair is envisioned as an exhibition, but also a competition, with grading of wine and brandy, as well as lectures on the actual topics concerning the protection of vine, technology of wine production and modern achievements in winery marketing.
THE TOWN CELEBRATION – SPASOVDAN ( May festivities, 12th – 17th of May )
During the festivities in May, a string of manifestations takes place ( exhibitions, concerts ) .
12th May has been established as the Day of Negotin municipality. Stands with food, wine and handwork of this region are positioned on the central town square on this day. During the programme, numerous cultural – artistic societies and performers on various instruments present themselves.
KRAJINSKI OBIČAJI ( The customs of Krajina, 18th – 19th June )
A manifestation in memory of the famous battle from first Serbian uprise near Štubik and Malajnica.
This manifestation gathers a large number of amateurs and adorers of traditional folk creativity from all over Serbia. Within the programme, a pre – competition of violin players is held for the festival ” Carevčevi dani” .
NEGOTIN FAIRS ( 8th – 9th May, 12th – 15th July, 21st – 24th September )
The Negotin fair is the manifestation with the longest tradition in Negotinska Krajina.
Out of the three fairs organised every year in Negotin, the oldest autumn fair was established back in 1836.
