The Lost river of Homolje is the only interminent source in the Eastern Serbia, with its function preserved still. It is located on the southeastern slopes of the Homolje Mountains, at the foot of the Mala Školja Hill, some 12 km ( 8 miles ) awey from Žagubica.
The water pours out of a hole, some 20 – 25 cm ( 10 inches ) in diameter, in irregular intervals. There are many legends about the Lost river of Homolje related to the unexplained appearance of water.
That is why it is said to possess healing and supernatural powers, which is the reason the offerings are placed at the source during the holy days.
