Resava Cave is one of the most beautiful and most visited caves in the Balkans, near Despotovac. Formed over 80 million years ago and stretching 4.5 km in length, it features impressive stalactites and stalagmites at a constant temperature of around 7 °C.

Resava Cave is one of the most beautiful and most visited caves in the Balkans, situated at an elevation of 440 metres near Despotovac. Formed more than 80 million years ago, it stretches approximately 4.5 km in total length, of which around 800 metres have been prepared for tourists.

Inside the Cave

The cave is adorned with extraordinary speleothems — stalactites, stalagmites, columns and draperies shaped over millions of years. The white calcite formations take on a fantastic appearance under the lighting. The constant temperature inside the cave is around 7 °C.

Visiting

The cave is open year-round. Guided tours lead through illuminated corridors and chambers — warm clothing is recommended. Resava Cave is part of a tourist complex that also includes the nearby Manasija Monastery, making it ideal for a day trip from Belgrade.
