The source of the river Mlava is located in the southeast part of Žagubica, at the foot of the northern slopes of the Beljanica Mountain, 314 meters ( 95o ft ) above sea level. The surface of the source, resembling a lake, covers the area of 25 meters ( 76 ft ) in diameter, its recorded depth 74 meters ( 215 ft ) .
The beauty of the source in Žagubica is largely contributed to by forest surroundings of rows of pine trees that reach the very source, giving it dark emerald color.
The clear waters of the river reflect the Vrelo Motel. For Purposes of preservacion of the entire complex, the source of Zagubica and its surroundings have been proclaimed Category I Hidrologic Monument.
