The Naupara Monastery

The Naupara MonasteryThe Naupara Monastery – built in XIV century.

The church of the monastery is dedicated to the birth of the Mother of God and is situated next to the village bearing the same name.

The monastery is 15 kilometers far from Kruševac in the direction of Brus.

 Naupara was built in moravski style, with a dome and parvis.

 

Its walls were painted and demolished many times and the present appearance was achieved after reconstruction in 1835. This monastery is famous for its stone rosettes on the west facade.

Especially beautiful for its wealth of motives and craftsmanship is the big rosette with the floral and zoomorphic patterns representing the 12 months of the year.
