Ram fortress was built on the foundations from Roman and Byzantium period.It was built by Turkish sultan Bayzit II in 1483.
The fortress has the shape of an irregular polygon with three closed and one open tower.
The remains of old Turkish caravansary, 6 centuries old, are situated near the fortress.
That is the only reserved caravansary in Serbia. We can say that was the first tourist object on the most important road wich led from the Balkans to Budim and Vienna.
