THE KRAJINA MUSEUM

The Krajina Museum was founded in 1934.

 In its fund there is about 15000 items, of which 3500 in continual exhibitions at three representative objects: Archeological Museum, the Museum of Hajduk Veljko and the House of Stevan St. Mokranjac.

The Museum of Hajduk Veljko

The oldest townhouse in Negotin, known also as the doss house of duke Todorče, was built in mid – nineteenth century.
Since 1997, it bears the name of the legendary defender of Negotin, Hajduk Veljko.
The Museum’ s gallery is located on the ground floor of the house.

 

 THE HOUSE OF STEVAN ST. MOKRANJAC

The House of Stevan St. Mokranjac

Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac was a Serbian composer and musical pedagogue, a classic of Serbian music, its most prominent figure on transition from the 19th to the 20th century, credited for the introduction of Serbian national spirit in artistic music.

He was born on 9th of January, 1856 in Negotin. Mokranjac dedicated a large part of his opus to the orthodox spiritual music, mostly based on the traditional chants of Serbian church chanting.
